I'm going to try a new segmant to round up some of the best and most interesting stories from around the world of music, TV, and music each week. It shall be nothing more than a glorfied link-dump with a few snide and not as funny as I think they are remarks about the news of mass media. Enjoy!
So Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen made around 201 million dollars since it's opening on Wednesday. Quite impressive considering the piss poor reviews it has been getting. I have to admit that I saw the first Transformers movie at my house on my TV with little to no expectations and I loved every minute of it. I in fact wanted to hate the movie but it was too darn charming and entertaining. I actually was going to see the sequal on the big screen but since the reviews are panning it, I will stick to the low expectations TV viewing for the second one as well.
Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, Ed McMahon, and Farah Fawcett all died last week. Sadly, Billy Mays was quite possibly the only one that was still going to contribute anything meaningful to society. May's obituary will be written in all capital letters and filled with exclamaiton points. R.I.P. to all four.
Michael Mann tends to piss me off, he takes ideas for movies that look completly bad-ass to me and then turns them into underwhelming and overly long flicks. Some exceptions were Collateral, (and I may be the only person on the face of the planet that enjoyed it but,) Miami Vice. I am hoping Public Enemies is really good cause there hasn't been anything out lately that's been decent. Also, doesn't it seem like Johnny Depp hasn't been in a movie in years?
Yuk, so the woman from the Playboy relatity TV Show, "The Girls Next Door" Kendra Wilkinson and NFL'er Hank Baskett are getting hitched. Now if I was dating someone that had sexual relations with a man that was over 80 years old, I would do everything within my power to forget about it. Not Hank Baskett who is evidently a better man than I, he and Kendra Wilkinson are actually getting hitched at the 80 years olds house. Perhaps Hugh will even walk her down the isle. AKWARD.
The Blueprint three is out September 11th and Jay-Z's first single is D.O.A. (Death of Autotune), and the video premiered last night at the Michael Jackson Tribute awards B.E.T. Awards. Below is the video. Am I the only one that Jay-Z never bothered to pretend to retire, it puts a little stain on his legacy to me, but he still has it, thats for sure.
